NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound gets July 2025 release date, demo coming soon

NINJA GAIDEN Ragebound 4

The release date for NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound has been confirmed, with a new gameplay trailer also having been released.

A new 2D side-scrolling action platformer that aims to inherit the legacy of Koei Tecmo Games’ NINJA GAIDEN series, NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound promises a challenging experience demanding evasiveness and precision, where staying still can lead to immediate defeat.

NINJA GAIDEN Ragebound 1

The NINJA GAIDEN series, originally published on the Nintendo Entertainment System, is known for its punishing difficulty and fluid, fast-paced action.

This new installment seeks to modernize that classic feel while introducing an original story.

NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound picks up immediately after the opening events of the original NES NINJA GAIDEN, following the breaking of the veil between the human and demon realms.

With Ryu Hayabusa leaving his village, the spotlight shifts to Kenji Mozu, a fledgling Hayabusa Clan Ninja, who must rise to confront the evil forces.

Kenji’s destiny becomes intertwined with Kumori, a formidable kunoichi from the rival Black Spider Clan.

Despite generational grudges, Kenji and Kumori must unite, using forbidden techniques to merge their powers and survive the battles ahead.

The game allows players to master the distinct abilities of both Kenji and Kumori through action that emphasizes razor-sharp precision and quick evasiveness.

It features show-stopping fights against powerful, boss-caliber enemies, complemented by upgradable abilities, hidden collectibles, unlockable secret missions, and optional challenges.

The title is designed as an engrossing modernization of the series’ tense, swift battles and precise, skill-demanding platforming.

Visually, NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound features pixel art that evokes the classic 2D games while bringing lush environments and a menacing cast of enemies to life with intricate detail.

The dynamic action is paired with a pitch-perfect soundtrack, led by Sergio de Prado, known for his work on the Blasphemous series.

Additionally, special guest composers Keiji Yamagishi, Ryuichi Niita, and Kaori Nakabai, who created the soundtracks for the original NES NINJA GAIDEN trilogy, have contributed to the game’s audio.

NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam on July 31st.

PC players will have an opportunity to experience a demo of the game as part of the Steam Next Fest: June 2025 Edition, available from June 9th to 16th.

This update on NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound’s development comes at a time when the NINJA GAIDEN series is returning to prominence with NINJA GAIDEN 4 currently in development and merchandise such as action figures of Ryu Hayabusa and Kasumi recently being announced.
