New Gundam T-shirt collection blends mobile suits with casual street style
A new range of street inspired T-shirts has been unveiled as the latest collection under the “STRICT-G NEW YARK” label.
“STRICT-G NEW YARK” is a sub-label of BANDAI’s Gundam themed fashion brand “STRICT-G”.
The “NEW YARK” name comes from an alternative Japanese spelling of New York that was used in the original Gundam anime and subsequent Universal Century set series.
The “Mobile Suit Gundam” franchise, which commenced in 1979 with the original anime series, has become a cornerstone of Japanese pop culture.
The STRICT-G fashion brand caters to adult fans, offering sophisticated and subtle ways to express their fandom through fashion.
Recent releases by STRICT-G have included a Gundam Wing themed jacket and military style shirts inspired by the original anime.
The “STRICT-G NEW YARK” series distinguishes itself with a focus on monotone aesthetics, aiming to create street casual wear.
All of the new T-shirts are crafted from 7.1-ounce “rugged” fabric. This material is made from high-density woven open-end yarn, which gives the fabric a dry, crisp texture and a strong, resilient feel.
The T-shirts feature a slightly higher neckline than normal t-shirts, which is designed to fit comfortably around the neck.
Three different designs have been created and each design is intended to be a fresh take on iconic imagery from “Mobile Suit Gundam”:
- Circle/Triangle Logos
This design features a stylized circular emblem on the back and a triangular one on the front.
Each emblem incorporates the face of the RX-78-02 Gundam from the original “Mobile Suit Gundam” anime.
- Beam Saber
This shirt features a monotone graphic depicting the RX-78-02 Gundam leaping with its beam saber drawn.
The rear of the shirt features a large design showing the Gundam’s face.
- EFSF
The EFSF is the Earth Federation Space Force, the primary military organization of the Earth Federation in the Universal Century timeline of “Mobile Suit Gundam”.
A simple EFSF graphic is shown on the front while the rear features a larger graphic hat also references the year UC 0079, the year in which the One Year War between the EFSF and Zeon started.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase these T-shirts directly at STRICT-G’s physical retail locations starting from Saturday, June 28th.

- STRICT-G Tokyo Solamachi store (4F Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi)
- STRICT-G NEOPASA Shizuoka (downbound) store (inside Shizuoka Service Area, Shin-Tomei Expressway)
- STRICT-G Taga SA (downbound) store (inside EXPASA Taga, Meishin Expressway)
- STRICT-G GUNDAM SIDE-F (Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Fukuoka 4F “Gundam Park Fukuoka”)
Each T-shirt will be priced at 5,500 yen (approx. $38.01 USD / £27.89 GBP) and will be available in sizes M through to XXL.
They can also be ordered online through Premium Bandai’s STRICT-G Online Store which will be accepting orders until July 6th, 23:00 JST.
Shipment for online orders will occur after the ordering period has closed.
