New Fullmetal Alchemist Gashapon figure collection set for release
Bandai is releasing a new line of capsule toys based on the legendary manga and anime series, Fullmetal Alchemist.
The new product, titled the “Fullmetal Alchemist Capsule Figure Collection,” is part of Bandai’s Gashapon brand.
Gashapon are a popular part of hobby culture in Japan, where collectible toys are dispensed in plastic capsules from vending machines for a set price per attempt.
Fullmetal Alchemist, created by Hiromu Arakawa, is one of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful manga series of all time, with a global circulation of over 80 million copies.
The story follows the journey of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are on a quest to find the mythical Philosopher’s Stone to restore their bodies after a tragic failed alchemical experiment.
This new collection of Gashapon figures captures four of the series’ main characters in a cute, “deformed” or chibi art style.
Each small figure comes with its own dedicated display base.
The lineup of characters includes the two protagonists, the “Fullmetal Alchemist” Edward Elric and his younger brother, Alphonse Elric, whose soul is bound to a large suit of armor.
They are joined by two prominent members of the Amestrian State Military.
The “Flame Alchemist,” Colonel Roy Mustang, is included in the set.
His loyal subordinate, the sharpshooting First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, is the fourth figure in the collection.
The “Fullmetal Alchemist Capsule Figure Collection” is scheduled for a rollout in capsule toy machines across Japan during the third week of July and will be priced at ¥500 per attempt.
