A brand-new spin-off manga based on the legendary fighting series Baki has been officially announced.

The Baki franchise, originally created by Keisuke Itagaki in 1991, has entertained fans for over three decades with its intense martial arts action.

The main storyline follows a young teenager named Baki Hanma as he battles formidable opponents to eventually challenge his father, the strongest creature on Earth.

This latest side story takes a surprisingly relaxing turn, shifting the focus away from the underground fighting arena and into the culinary world.

Titled “Baki Gaiden Doppo – Hitori Nomi Kui Aruki”, the new series operates as a dedicated “gourmet manga”.

It will focus on the fearsome karate grandmaster Doppo Orochi, who is widely known by fans as the “Man-Eater Orochi.”

However, instead of devouring his opponents in the ring, the martial artist will be enjoying solitary meals and drinks as he wanders from restaurant to restaurant.

Series creator Keisuke Itagaki is providing the original concept for this unique food-focused spin-off.

The storyboards are being handled by Kenji Hamaoka, who is well-known in the manga industry for his work on the comedy series Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku.

Meanwhile, Takaaki Hayashi is returning to the franchise to provide the artwork, having previously illustrated the Baki Gaiden Gaia and Sikorsky spin-off.

This unexpected culinary focus perfectly aligns with another recently teased promotion for the franchise.

McDonald’s Japan recently hinted at a food-related crossover featuring the anime, suggesting fans may have a real-life Baki-themed dining experience to look forward to.

The new manga will officially begin serialization in the upcoming issue of Champion RED magazine.

To celebrate the launch, the debut will feature cover artwork, lead color pages, and a massive drop of three complete chapters at once.

The magazine is scheduled to hit physical newsstands and digital storefronts across Japan on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
