Moon Gundam’s Varguil gets a new exclusive HG Gunpla kit
A new, exclusive Gunpla kit has been announced for the official Gundam retail store, “The Gundam Base.”
The new kit is the “HG 1/144 Gundam Base Limited Varguil (Gundam Head & Psycho-Plate Equipped Type).”
This kit is based on a mobile suit from the popular manga series, Mobile Suit Moon Gundam.
The manga is an official side story that takes place in the Universal Century timeline between the events of Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Char’s Counterattack.
This new High Grade (HG) 1/144 scale model kit recreates a pivotal moment from the manga’s story.
It depicts the Neo Zeon mobile suit, the Varguil, after it has been repaired and upgraded using the salvaged head and psycho-plates from the formidable Psycho Gundam Mk-IV G-Doors.
This unique, hybrid configuration is the direct precursor to the manga’s titular mobile suit, the Moon Gundam.
The model kit features a number of special gimmicks.
The “Butterfly Edge” weapons equipped on the arms are detachable.
The signature crescent-shaped psycho-plates can be separated and recombined, and they feature a locking mechanism to ensure a solid connection between the parts.
The kit also includes special hand parts for securely holding its beam rifle.
This release provides fans of the manga a new opportunity to build a key mobile suit from the storyline.
The “HG 1/144 Gundam Base Limited Varguil (Gundam Head & Psycho-Plate Equipped Type)” is priced at ¥4,400 (approx. $30 USD/£23 GBP).
It is scheduled to be released as a Gundam Base exclusive item on Saturday, the 23rd of August, 2025.
Bandai will also be releasing several other new Gunpla kits in August alongside the release of this new kit.
