McDonald’s Launches New Sanrio Happy Meal Collab With Exclusive Toys

McDonald’s Japan has announced a brand-new Happy Meal collaboration with Sanrio and Tomica.
The Sanrio Characters and Tomica Happy Meals will come with a variety of cute figures and miniature cars, which are sure to be a hit with fans of either brand.

Sanrio regularly collaborates with other brands and franchises to create unique merchandise featuring their most popular mascots.
A recent partnership saw Sanrio join forces with the popular cat series mofusand for a third time to release a pastel-colored amusement park-themed range of merchandise.

Another saw the adorable puppy Cinnamoroll team up with the virtual singer Hatsune Miku for a dreamy cherry blossom merch collection.

This new promotion with McDonald’s focuses heavily on the adorable Sanrio cast, offering a wide array of fun and functional toys.

While miniature Tomica cars are also available, the pastel-colored Sanrio character goods are sure to be the most sought after by collectors.

All of the toys are distributed at random, meaning specific designs cannot be chosen at the time of purchase.
The first wave of toys officially launched on Friday, April 10, 2026, and will be available until Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The second wave is scheduled to run from Friday, April 24, 2026, through Thursday, May 7, 2026.
A third wave will begin on Friday, May 8, 2026, offering fans a chance to collect toys from the entire promotional lineup.
Fans can purchase these limited-time Happy Meals at participating McDonald’s restaurant locations across Japan.

It’s worth noting that, as with all Happy Meal promotions in Japan, McDonald’s may end sales sooner than the dates provided in the event that stock of each wave runs low.
This has been the case with several other promotions, such as one with the immensely popular animation Chiikawa, which attracted scalpers to the extent that the collaborative toys sold out incredibly quickly and saw a large quantity of food left abandoned and wasted.

McDonald’s Japan hasn’t indicated any restrictions on this latest Happy Meal collaboration, other than to place a statement on their website and social media requesting that purchasers refrain from buying the toys for “resale, redistribution or commercial activities,” though a verbal warning is likely to do little to deter scalpers determined to make a quick profit.
