Kotobukiya announces re-release of Mega Man X3 “Max Armor” model kit

Kotobukiya has announced a re-release of its popular plastic model kit of the “Max Armor” from the video game Mega Man X3.
This 1/12 scale model kit is a detailed recreation of the powerful armor set that the protagonist, X, can acquire in the classic Super Nintendo title.

The kit, engineered with precise CAD design, features an extensive range of articulation that allows it to replicate a wide variety of action poses from the game.

It is a multi-color kit with some pre-painted parts, meaning that once assembled, the model will closely resemble the in-game appearance of the Max Armor without requiring additional painting.

A number of accessories and interchangeable parts are included with the kit.

The set comes with three different face parts, allowing for a standard forward-facing expression, a second alternate normal expression, and a shouting expression for action scenes.

The X-Buster arm can be swapped between the left and right arms.

Four different types of hands are also included: a closed fist, an open palm, a support hand, and a weapon-holding hand.

A key accessory from Mega Man X3 is also part of the set: the powerful Z-Saber.

This is the signature weapon of X’s best friend and rival, Zero, which he entrusts to X during the game.
The beam portion of the Z-Saber is molded in clear plastic, and by inserting a separately sold “Milight 316” LED unit, the blade can be made to light up.

The armor parts of the kit are also cross-compatible with the first “X” model kit in Kotobukiya’s Mega Man X series.

To commemorate this re-release, the model’s packaging will feature a new, original illustration from Keisuke Mizuno, an artist who has handled character design for the Mega Man X series for many years.
The “Mega Man X Max Armor” model kit is priced at 7,480 yen (approx. $51 USD/£38 GBP) and it is scheduled to be released in March 2026.
This new re-release follows the re-release of Kotobukiya’s Mega Man kit based on the Mega Man Battle Network series, known as Mega Man EXE in Japan, earlier this year.
