Japan’s Nintendo Museum Set to Expand with New “Super Family Restaurant” Dining Area

Japan’s Nintendo Museum is set to expand later this year, with Nintendo confirming plans for a brand-new dining facility that will offer fans even more reason to add the popular tourist attraction to their itinerary.
Nintendo has officially announced that a new “SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT” is in development, further expanding the museum’s food offerings and providing visitors with a formal dining area to relax in during their visit.

Located in Uji, Kyoto, the Nintendo Museum serves as a showcase of the company’s long history in entertainment, giving guests the opportunity to explore and interact with products that span multiple generations of Nintendo’s history.

The museum already features the more casual “Hatena Burger” café, where guests can enjoy customizable burgers and other menu items inspired by Nintendo’s playful approach to entertainment.

The “SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT” name appears to be a tribute to the Super Famicom, Nintendo’s legendary home console that launched in Japan and later became known internationally as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Alongside the announcement, Nintendo shared an early photograph of the restaurant while preparations are still underway.
The preview image includes a large statue of Link from The Legend of Zelda positioned prominently within the venue, shown holding a drawn bow ready for action.

Fans examining the image closely may also notice what appears to be the Master Sword displayed on shelving within the restaurant’s interior.

Another display seems to feature an item resembling Samus Aran’s iconic Power Suit from the Metroid franchise, suggesting that Nintendo’s broader gaming history could be incorporated into the restaurant’s décor.

According to Nintendo, development of the new dining venue is ongoing, with plans to offer a variety of video game-inspired food items, desserts and drinks for guests to enjoy.

The new “SUPER FAMILY RESTAURANT” is officially expected to open in autumn 2026 at the Nintendo Museum in Uji, Kyoto, Japan.
While the full menu and other details remain under wraps for now, Nintendo has confirmed that further information will be shared closer to the restaurant’s opening date.
