Bandai Fully Reveals the Renewed HG Legend Gundam Ahead of Release

Bandai Spirits Hobby Division has released new product images for the upcoming update to a prominent mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
The HG 1/144 Legend Gundam is being renewed using the latest High Grade format specifications, bringing modern engineering to the rival machine just days before its official launch.

This new kit immortalizes the mobile suit piloted by Rey Za Burrel during the climactic battles of the Second Bloody Valentine War.

It utilizes the “SEED Action System,” an internal structural design specialized for recreating the dynamic action poses seen in the anime, allowing for a wide range of articulation that differs from previous iterations of the kit.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny aired from 2004 to 2005 as the direct sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

The story follows Shinn Asuka and his peers aboard the battleship Minerva through a new conflict between the Earth Alliance and ZAFT.
The Legend Gundam serves as one of the final antagonists, designed as a successor to the Providence Gundam and equipped with an advanced DRAGOON system (Disconnected Rapid Armament Group Overlook Operation Network) which allows the pilot to control multiple remote weapon pods to attack enemies from all angles.

Rey Za Burrel, a clone of Rau Le Creuset, pilots this machine in defense of Chairman Gilbert Durandal’s “Destiny Plan,” eventually facing off against Kira Yamato’s Strike Freedom Gundam.
The engineering of this new High Grade kit focuses heavily on the reproduction of these signature gimmicks.

The characteristic backpack features multiple movable axes, allowing the remote weapon pods to be displayed in flexible configurations to match the chaotic nature of the battles in the series.
The two large “GDU-X5 Assault Beam Machine Guns” mounted on the backpack feature a pull-out connection mechanism, enabling them to swing forward and backward to replicate firing stances.

The kit also includes beam spike effect parts for the “GDU-X7 Assault Beam Machine Guns,” simulating the activation of the melee beam spikes utilized when the pods are detached.
In terms of handheld weaponry, the model comes with a high-energy beam rifle and beam javelins.

The grip of the beam javelin can be stored inside the leg armor, maintaining the sleek silhouette of the suit when not in combat.
A beam shield effect part is also provided to recreate defensive maneuvers.

The full set includes the main body, the high-energy beam rifle, two beam javelins, the beam shield, two beam spike effects, a set of hand parts, and a sticker sheet for detailing.

The HG 1/144 Legend Gundam is priced at 3,080 yen (approx. $21.00 USD / £16.00 GBP).

The model kit is scheduled to go on sale on Saturday, January 31, 2026, via reputable hobby goods retailers within Japan and internationally.
