Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss Gameplay Releases Overview Trailer

Publisher Nacon and developer Big Bad Wolf Studio have debuted a comprehensive four minute gameplay overview for their upcoming Lovecraftian title, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss.

Scheduled for release on April 16, 2026, this narrative investigation game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.

The story follows Noah, an investigator for the occult focused office known as the Ancile, as he searches for a missing mining expedition in the Pacific Ocean.

Players must navigate the sunken city of R’lyeh, a labyrinthine prison where the Great Old One Cthulhu is held captive.

Noah is accompanied by an artificial intelligence assistant named KEY, who helps analyze clues and manage advanced investigation tools.

Core mechanics include Clue Analysis, which allows Noah to learn about object compositions and unlock new sonar frequencies for tracking.

Using these abilities consumes energy, and failing to manage this resource leads to an increase in the corruption gauge.

The corruption gauge tracks Noah’s descent into madness, with every decision potentially impacting the final outcome of the investigation.

Strategic tools like The Vault allow players to link discovered documents together to solve complex puzzles, while the Sonar reveals hidden passages and invisible elements.

Players can find and upgrade artifacts to enhance their equipment, though these upgrades can be permanently destroyed by the player’s choices or corruption.
