Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles confirmed to feature full voice acting as new details revealed
New details have been revealed for the upcoming remaster of the classic tactical role-playing game, Final Fantasy Tactics.
The new information for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles was announced during the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase broadcast held on the 31st of July, 2025.
The original Final Fantasy Tactics, first released in 1997, is a celebrated entry in the franchise, known for its deep, strategic grid-based combat and its complex, mature narrative of political intrigue.
This new remaster is designed to appeal to both long-time fans and newcomers, offering two different ways to play the game.
It will include a “Classic” mode, which faithfully reproduces the experience of the original version as closely as possible.
It will also feature an “Enhanced” mode, which introduces a variety of new elements and quality-of-life improvements.
The Enhanced mode will feature upgraded graphics and a completely overhauled user interface.
A major addition confirmed in the new presentation is that the game’s story will now feature full voice acting, which will be accompanied by many new character conversations that were not in the original.
Other new features being added include a story recap function and a selection of new difficulty modes to suit different playstyles.
These new elements aim to provide a fresh experience while preserving the core of the classic game.
The remaster is scheduled for a wide, multi-platform release and it will be available on the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase also saw Square Enix announce the next game in the Octopath Traveller series, Octopath Traveller 0, and a new HD-2D style action RPG, The Adventures of Elliot.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, the 30th of September, 2025.
