Square Enix announces new HD-2D ARPG “The Adventures of Elliot” and launches playable demo

Adventures of Elliot 6

A new action role-playing game titled The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales was announced during the latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase broadcast.

The new title is being developed by the same team at Square Enix responsible for the acclaimed Bravely Default and Octopath Traveler series of games.

Adventures of Elliot 1

This new game is being built with the “HD-2D” graphical style, which blends high-definition, 3D environments with nostalgic, 2D pixel art characters.

It will be the first action RPG to be created in this signature visual style.

The story follows an adventurer named Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, as they leave the safety of their protected kingdom to investigate ancient ruins in a world overrun by beast tribes.

Adventures of Elliot 2

Players will control Elliot in real-time combat, utilizing a variety of seven different weapon types, including swords, bows, and chains and sickles.

These weapons can be enhanced by combining them with magic stones found during the adventure.

Adventures of Elliot 5

The fairy, Faie, can be controlled by the main player to assist in battle and collect items.

The game also supports a two-player co-op mode, where a second player can take direct control of the fairy companion.

Adventures of Elliot 4

A playable demo for the new game has been made available to download today.

The developers have stated that they will be gathering player feedback from the demo through an online survey to help shape the final product.

Adventures of Elliot 3

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales has been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2, and the full game is scheduled to be released sometime in 2026.

As part of the same Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Square Enix also announced the next game in the Octopath Traveller series, Octopath Traveller 0.
