Dark Scrolls: Fantasy Action Platformer Coming To Switch and PC

Publisher Devolver Digital and developer doinksoft have officially announced their latest project titled Dark Scrolls.

The game is described as a fantasy themed side scrolling action platformer that combines shoot em up mechanics with roguelite progression systems..

Players can expect the title to launch for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam sometime in 2026..

Developer Cullen Dwyer expressed a desire to return to challenging roots, noting that many modern games labeled as roguelikes lack the grid locked complexity of 1980s dungeon crawlers.

Dark Scrolls features procedurally generated runs consisting of handcrafted rooms where players must use unique hero abilities to survive.

The gameplay supports both solo ventures and cooperative play in local or online modes.

A roster of nine different heroes will be available for players to unlock, each featuring specific skills and customizable trinkets.

Currency collected during runs can be spent at Bruce and Goose’s Shoppe to acquire new perks and summoned allies.

The experience is designed to reward sharp reflexes as players navigate branching paths and encounter difficult bosses.

An announcement trailer and initial screenshots have been released to provide a first look at the arcade-inspired destruction.
