Bandai Announces New ROBOT Spirits Super Gundam and Standalone G-Defenser
Bandai Spirits has announced the start of orders for two new figures based on Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
The “ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam ver. A.N.I.M.E.” and the standalone “ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> FXA-05D G-Defenser ver. A.N.I.M.E.” are highly detailed action figures inspired by the classic animation.
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam follows a new generation of pilots caught in a brutal conflict between the Earth Federation’s tyrannical Titans and the rebel group AEUG.
The “ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam ver. A.N.I.M.E.” is a newly recolored version of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II, utilizing a specific light gray tone to accurately match its appearance in the original television broadcast.
This particular version comes as a set and is paired with the G-Defenser, a heavy support fighter explicitly designed to combine with the mobile suit to increase its firepower and mobility.
The mobile suit’s massive Long Rifle can be deployed forward and comes with dynamic beam firing effect parts to create stunning combat displays.
Fans can effortlessly merge the two units together to form the heavily armed Super Gundam or the cruising G-Flyer mode without needing to swap any structural parts.
The G-Defenser features a unique movable arm mechanism for its transformation and includes a special joint to recreate the dramatic Core Fighter escape sequence.
It also features a 14-tube missile pod with hatches that can be freely opened and closed, as well as interchangeable cockpit parts that reveal the pilot seated inside the machine.
For fans who already own a compatible Gundam Mk-II, the manufacturer is also offering the G-Defenser as a standalone purchase.
The ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam ver. A.N.I.M.E. is priced at 15,400 yen (approx. £79 GBP / $101 USD).
The standalone ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> FXA-05D G-Defenser ver. A.N.I.M.E. is priced at 6,050 yen (approx. £31 GBP / $40 USD).
Pre-orders for both action figures will officially open on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 4:00 PM JST.
Sales are being handled exclusively through the official Premium Bandai online store.
Shipping for both figures is currently scheduled for September 2026.
