Danganronpa’s Sold Out Kaede Akamatsu Scale Figure Officially Returns in 2027
Image by Charlotte DavisFigure manufacturer Phat Company has officially announced a re-release for one of their most popular Danganronpa figures, giving fans another opportunity to secure it several years after its original launch.
The returning figure is a 1/7 scale recreation of Kaede from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, capturing the Ultimate Pianist with an expression that reflects some of the game’s most emotionally charged early moments.
Kaede is introduced as one of the central students trapped inside the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, where she quickly takes on a leadership role while attempting to unite the group and escape Monokuma’s latest killing game.
Her talent as the Ultimate Pianist is worked throughout her character design, from the musical note clips in her hair to the sheet music pattern incorporated into her skirt.
Phat Company’s figure keeps those familiar details while presenting Kaede in a more serious pose that contrasts with the optimistic personality she displays during much of the game’s opening.
Much of the 24cm tall figure’s impact comes from its dedicated display base, which was designed around the punishment sequence that became one of Danganronpa V3’s most shocking scenes for players.
Rather than recreating the scene literally, the base uses visual elements associated with the sequence to surround Kaede, creating a darker backdrop for the character while leaving her standing prominently at the center.
The figure originally arrived in October 2023, with the newly announced production run bringing the same sculpt back after close to four years away from the market.
Kaede has also been receiving renewed attention from figure manufacturers during 2026, with Good Smile Company launching a new Nendoroid that turns the Ultimate Pianist into a smaller articulated figure with multiple expressions and optional parts.
She also recently appeared in Danganronpa’s new Sanrio collaboration, where artwork by illustrator Kei Mochizuki paired Kaede with My Sweet Piano alongside character combinations drawn from all three main games.
Pre-orders for the returning “1/7 Scale Kaede Akamatsu” figure are now open through established hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan.
The figure is priced at ¥26,800 (approximately $172 USD / £127 GBP) and is scheduled for release in May 2027.
