Final Fantasy XIV’s Official Craft Beer Collection Adds 2 New Eorzea-Inspired Releases
Image by James RichardsonFinal Fantasy XIV is expanding its official craft beer collection with two new drinks inspired by the world of Eorzea, doubling the number of exclusive brews based on Square Enix’s hugely popular online RPG.
The new releases draw inspiration from the desert city of Ul’dah and the bustling port of Limsa Lominsa, introducing two contrasting beer styles developed to capture the atmosphere of these famous in-game locations.

Originally released in 2010 before being completely rebuilt and relaunched as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in 2013, the MMORPG takes players on an expansive adventure across Eorzea and its surrounding regions, with a rich storyline that has continued to grow through numerous expansions.

Players create their own Warrior of Light and explore a world filled with different nations, cultures, and characters, taking part in everything from major battles and challenging dungeons to crafting, gathering, and other activities.

The game’s three original starting cities are Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa and Gridania, each with its own distinctive environment and history, making them natural inspirations for themed food, drinks and other merchandise.

The latest craft beers are being introduced by Taito at EXBAR TOKYO plus AKIHABARA, a gaming bar in Tokyo that sits alongside Japan’s first permanent Final Fantasy XIV merchandise shop, which opened in December 2025 and features an interior inspired by Gridania’s marketplace.

The collaboration originally launched in July with two official craft beers, introducing “Guiding Light”, a fruit ale inspired by the Mothercrystal, and “Healer of the Forest”, a smooth white ale based on the woodland city of Gridania.

Both drinks will remain available alongside the new additions, allowing visitors to explore four different flavors representing some of the most important places and symbols from Final Fantasy XIV.
The first new beer, “Fragrant Sands”, takes inspiration from Ul’dah, the wealthy desert trading city known for its bustling markets, powerful merchant families, and imposing architecture.

Created as a spiced ale, the drink incorporates cloves to produce a warm, aromatic flavor, accompanied by a lightly sweet taste and colorful appearance intended to evoke the atmosphere of Ul’dah’s lively marketplaces.
The ale has an alcohol content of 5% ABV and a bitterness rating of 25 IBU, a measurement commonly used to indicate the intensity of bitterness in beer.
The second release, “Song of the Sea”, is inspired by Limsa Lominsa, the maritime city-state famous for its busy harbor, seafaring traditions, and history of piracy.

Its design specifically references the Drowning Wench, the popular tavern found inside the Mizzenmast building, which serves as an important gathering place for adventurers throughout the game.
The drink is a red India Pale Ale (IPA) with a copper-red appearance, combining a strong hop-forward bitterness with a richer malt flavor intended to reflect the hearty ales associated with sailors returning from long voyages.
It contains 6.5% alcohol and has a bitterness rating of 61 IBU, giving it a stronger and more bitter profile than the Ul’dah-inspired spiced ale.

To celebrate the expanded collection, Taito is also introducing several new Final Fantasy XIV-themed additions to the bar, including specially decorated beer dispensers and an exclusive prepaid card.
The new SWT prepaid card features artwork inspired by the game and can be issued free of charge when customers add credit to the bar’s “Shall We Tap?” self-service drinks system, although its exact introduction date has yet to be confirmed.

The system allows visitors to pour their own drinks from a selection of taps, using a prepaid card to control their purchases rather than ordering each serving directly from a bartender.
Selected dispensers will also receive new Final Fantasy XIV decorations, giving the self-service equipment a matching appearance as part of the collaboration.

Two promotional campaigns will accompany the new drinks, offering visitors additional opportunities to receive exclusive Final Fantasy XIV merchandise.
Customers who spend at least ¥3,000 (approximately $19 / £14) on Final Fantasy XIV merchandise at the adjoining shop, or add the same amount of credit to an SWT card at the bar, will receive a complimentary postcard.

The postcard is limited to one per person each day and will remain available only while supplies last.
A separate promotion will award an original sticker to customers who share photographs taken inside the venue on social media, with distribution limited to one per person and further participation details available through the bar’s official X account.

The two new Final Fantasy XIV craft beers will officially become available on October 28, 2026, exclusively at EXBAR TOKYO plus AKIHABARA, located inside the Akihabara East-West Free Passage, approximately one minute from JR Akihabara Station.

The venue is open daily from 10 AM to 11 PM JST, with last orders at 10:30 PM, and further details can be found on the official EXBAR TOKYO plus AKIHABARA website.
