Black Clover Anime’s Long-Awaited Return Confirmed for October 2026

TV Tokyo has revealed that the previously announced second season of Black Clover is now set to premiere in October, giving fans a concrete release window for the anime’s return.
The upcoming installment will continue adapting Yūki Tabata’s fantasy manga, which follows Asta, a boy born without magical abilities in a world where magic defines status and opportunity, as he pursues his dream of becoming the Wizard King.

Ayataka Tanemura will direct the new season after previously overseeing episodes 153 to 170 of the original anime and serving as director of the film “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King”.
As part of the promotion surrounding the announcement, Tanemura is scheduled to appear at Anime Expo on July 4 alongside Gakuto Kajiwara, the Japanese voice actor behind Asta.

Anime Expo 2026 will take place from July 2 through July 5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Studio Pierrot, which produced the original television adaptation, will once again handle animation production for the new season.
Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the series for international audiences.
The first Black Clover anime concluded in March 2021 after airing a total of 170 episodes.

When the adaptation debuted in October 2017, it was originally planned as a 51-episode series.
Strong viewer interest led to the anime continuing beyond its initial run, with further seasons launching in October 2018 and October 2019.
Throughout its original broadcast, Crunchyroll streamed the series with English subtitles, while Funimation provided an English-dubbed version.

The anime also became part of Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in December 2017, expanding its reach to television audiences in North America.
The franchise later received a feature film with “Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King,” which opened in Japanese cinemas and launched worldwide on Netflix in June 2023.

Outside of the anime, the Black Clover manga began publication in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015 before moving to the quarterly Jump Giga magazine in 2023.
The manga remains available through both Viz Media and Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service in digital form, with Viz also offering physical editions.

Black Clover Season 2 is scheduled to begin airing on TV Tokyo in October 2026, with Crunchyroll streaming the series internationally following its Japanese broadcast premiere.
