Balenciaga Unveils New SEGA Collab Collection Starring Sonic the Hedgehog
Image by Charlotte DavisSEGA has teamed up with Balenciaga for a new luxury fashion collection starring Sonic the Hedgehog, with the gaming icon even swapping his usual footwear for a pair of the fashion house’s Jet sneakers.
The official partnership combines Balenciaga branding with some of SEGA’s most recognizable imagery, covering the collection with Sonic artwork, logos recreated using the classic SEGA-style lettering and graphics that bring the two brands together.

Sonic receives the biggest visual transformation, appearing in a hologram-style graphic that shows him emerging from a screen while wearing Balenciaga’s chunky Jet sneakers.

Other pieces use a heavier graphic treatment built around Sonic’s name in metal-inspired lettering, while the SEGA-focused designs place Balenciaga’s name into artwork influenced by the gaming company’s famous logo.

Each of the collaboration items also contains an NFC chip linked to Balenciaga’s Digital Product Card, which can be used for authentication and access to additional digital content.
The crossover arrives during Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary year, marking more than three decades since the character made his debut in 1991 and became SEGA’s best-known mascot.

Sonic has spent much of the anniversary appearing across new merchandise and fashion projects, including a collection from Japanese label Favorite built around six different characters, including Sonic, Shadow, Amy and Silver.

Balenciaga takes the character into a very different price range, with eight dedicated SEGA and Sonic products forming the main collaboration lineup:
- Balenciaga | SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog Varsity Jacket – ¥532,000 (approximately $3,430 USD / £2,546 GBP)

Exclusive to the Japanese release, the most expensive piece in the range uses lightweight black nylon with Sonic and Balenciaga artwork embroidered across both the chest and back, combining the character with a classic varsity-style silhouette.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Oversized T-Shirt – ¥116,000 (approximately $748 USD / £555 GBP)

A black oversized cotton T-shirt centered around the collaboration’s Balenciaga and SEGA artwork, with the graphic printed prominently across the front.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog Oversized T-Shirt – ¥122,000 (approximately $787 USD / £584 GBP)

The Sonic version switches to the collection’s hologram-style character artwork across the front, accompanied by an embroidered Balenciaga logo on the chest.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog Oversized Zip-Up Hoodie – ¥256,000 (approximately $1,651 USD / £1,225 GBP)

Made from black dry fleece with distressed detailing, the oversized hoodie spreads the Sonic hologram artwork across its sleeves and back while adding an embroidered Balenciaga logo to the chest.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Long Sleeves Oversized T-Shirt – ¥135,000 (approximately $870 USD / £646 GBP)

Another piece exclusive to the Japanese release, this oversized long-sleeve design uses the SEGA-focused collaboration graphics across both the front and sleeves, giving the logo treatment more space than the short-sleeve version.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog Long Sleeves Oversized T-Shirt – ¥142,000 (approximately $916 USD / £680 GBP)

Also exclusive to Japan, Sonic’s hologram artwork appears across the front and sleeves of this black cotton design, with an embroidered Balenciaga logo providing an additional detail across the chest.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Cap – ¥69,000 (approximately $445 USD / £330 GBP)

The simpler of the two caps uses black cotton drill in a classic baseball shape, finished with the Balenciaga x SEGA artwork printed across the front and an adjustable fastening at the back.

- Balenciaga | SEGA Sonic the Hedgehog Cap – ¥83,000 (approximately $535 USD / £397 GBP)

The second cap keeps the same black cotton construction but replaces the printed SEGA treatment with embroidered Sonic and Balenciaga artwork across the front.

The partnership has been created around Tokyo Game Show 2026, linking Balenciaga’s fashion work with SEGA’s history across both home consoles and Japanese arcade gaming.
That arcade connection is being taken further at Balenciaga’s Aoyama flagship store in Tokyo, where two original-style SEGA Blast City cabinets are being displayed as part of the collaboration.

One of the machines can actually be played and runs Sonic the Fighters, the 1996 arcade fighting game that pits Sonic and other characters from the series against each other in one-on-one battles, while the second cabinet forms part of the store’s window display.

The Balenciaga | SEGA collection launched first through selected Balenciaga stores in Japan and the brand’s Japanese online store on September 15, 2026.
A wider international release is scheduled to follow through selected Balenciaga stores and the company’s official online store on September 22, 2026.
