Sonic and Karakuri Tamashii Team Up for Japanese-Inspired 35th Anniversary Fashion Collection

A new collaboration celebrating the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog is bringing together video game iconography and traditional Japanese-inspired fashion through a special apparel collection from Karakuri Tamashii.
Known for its use of classic Japanese patterns, embroidery techniques, and collaborations with popular entertainment franchises, Karakuri Tamashii has created a lineup that combines Sonic’s unmistakable style with the brand’s signature aesthetic.

The collection consists of two souvenir jacket designs and two T-shirt designs, with each shirt available in three different color options.

Across the range, detailed embroidery work and traditional Japanese artistic influences are used to reinterpret the world of Sonic the Hedgehog through a unique cultural lens.

The main “SONIC” collection features a souvenir jacket and matching T-shirt inspired by Sonic’s gold rings and the iconic Green Hill Zone.

The reversible jacket showcases an intricately embroidered image of Sonic across the back panel, while the reverse side features a full sublimation print depicting Green Hill Zone, one of the most recognizable stages in the franchise’s history.

The accompanying T-shirts utilize artwork shared with the jacket design and incorporate an embroidered Sonic logo on the front.

Alongside the standard Sonic lineup, Karakuri Tamashii has also introduced the “SONIC IN THE HOKUSAI” collection, which draws inspiration from Katsushika Hokusai’s famous “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji” series.

This design concept imagines Sonic stepping directly into the world of traditional Japanese art, creating a distinctive blend of gaming culture and historical artistic influences.

The “SONIC IN THE HOKUSAI” souvenir jacket features a bold graphic composition across the back, while the reverse side showcases Sonic rendered in a monochromatic ink-painting style.

The matching T-shirt incorporates the same artwork, creating a cohesive collection that merges classic Japanese visual traditions with one of gaming’s most enduring characters.

Additional attention has been paid to smaller design details throughout the collection.
All six T-shirt color variations across both the “SONIC” and “SONIC IN THE HOKUSAI” ranges include a custom woven tag inspired by the Chaos Emeralds, one of the most important items in the Sonic universe.

The “SONIC SUKAJAN” jacket is available in black and comes in sizes ranging from S to XXL, with select retailers also offering a XXXL version.

The “SONIC Tee” is offered in white, black, and blue colorways and is available in sizes S through XXL, with limited XXXL availability at select locations.
