Square Enix Announces New Chrono Trigger 30th Anniversary Orchestra Concert Dates for 2027
Image by Charlotte DavisOne of Chrono Trigger’s biggest 30th anniversary celebrations is officially returning next year following the strong response to its original performances in Tokyo.
Square Enix has announced new Osaka performances of the “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time,” which will take place at the Grand Cube Osaka Main Hall on February 12 and 13, 2027.
Chrono Trigger originally launched for the Super Famicom and Super Nintendo in 1995, with its time-travelling story, memorable cast and soundtrack helping it become one of Square’s most celebrated RPGs.
Music has remained an especially important part of the game’s legacy, with Yasunori Mitsuda’s soundtrack including tracks such as “Chrono Trigger,” “Wind Scene,” “Frog’s Theme” and “To Far Away Times”.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time” was originally created as part of the game’s 30th anniversary celebrations and was performed at Tokyo International Forum in January 2026.
Its production combines a full live orchestra with memorable scenes from the game, allowing the music and original adventure to be presented together throughout the performance.
The newly announced Osaka return follows the strong response to those Tokyo concerts, giving fans another opportunity to experience the anniversary production more than a year after its original run.
A new selection of concert-exclusive merchandise has also opened for advance orders, with all seven products scheduled to begin shipping from February 3, 2027.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time T-Shirt,” priced at ¥5,500 (approx. $34 USD / £25 GBP), gives fans a wearable souvenir created specifically around the anniversary concert.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time Tote Bag,” priced at ¥2,750 (approx. $17 USD / £13 GBP), adds a reusable bag to the exclusive collection.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time Hand Towel,” priced at ¥1,980 (approx. $12 USD / £9 GBP), provides one of the smaller and more affordable pieces of merchandise from the range.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time Mug,” priced at ¥2,860 (approx. $18 USD / £13 GBP), turns the concert branding into a more practical collectible for everyday use.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time Art Board,” priced at ¥2,530 (approx. $16 USD / £12 GBP), offers a dedicated display piece based on the visual identity of the anniversary performances.
The “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time Pin Set,” priced at ¥2,200 (approx. $14 USD / £10 GBP), adds another small collectible created specifically for the concert.
The final item is the “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestral Arrangement: Melodies Across Time Acrylic Diorama,” priced at ¥3,850 (approx. $24 USD / £18 GBP), providing another display-focused option tied to the orchestral project.
Advance orders for all seven concert goods are available through the Square Enix e-STORE until October 9 and are open even to fans who will not be attending the Osaka performances.
The Osaka performances of the “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time” will take place at Grand Cube Osaka on February 12 and 13, 2027.
Square Enix has also opened its first advance ticket lottery through the Square Enix e-STORE, with applications available from August 31 through September 14.
Successful applicants will be contacted from September 24, with tickets purchased through the e-STORE also supplied as special picture tickets rather than standard admission tickets.
The ticket application period is being handled as a lottery rather than on a first-come, first-served basis, with all seats reserved.
The announcement follows another major wave of Chrono Trigger merchandise revealed by Square Enix, with 16 new products including Frog, Robo and Nu plushes, gaming mouse pads and acrylic stands also recently opening for pre-orders.
