An exclusive Gunpla kit based on the classic Gelgoog’s later appearance under Neo Zeon’s Sleeves in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn has officially returned to the US, giving builders another chance to add it to their collection.

The “HG 1/144 GELGOOG (UNICORN Ver.)” recreates the Gelgoog’s updated green color scheme, ornate Sleeves markings, and additional Beam Machine Gun seen in the anime.

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn takes place in Universal Century 0096, three years after the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, and follows Banagher Links as he becomes caught up in the conflict surrounding the mysterious Laplace’s Box.

The story sees the Earth Federation facing a renewed threat from the remnants of Neo Zeon, led by the mysterious Full Frontal and commonly known as the Sleeves due to the decorative markings worn on their mobile suits.

Originally introduced in the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime, the Gelgoog was one of Zeon’s most advanced mass-produced mobile suits during the One Year War, developed to compete with the Earth Federation’s increasingly powerful machines.

Although the war ended in UC 0080, surviving Gelgoog units continued to appear throughout the Universal Century timeline, with the Neo Zeon remnants retaining several older designs alongside their more advanced equipment.

The Gelgoog appears in Gundam Unicorn during an attack on the Nahel Argama as the Earth Federation warship makes its way toward the space colony Megalanica.

Bandai originally released the exclusive Gundam Unicorn version in May 2017, using the earlier HGUC Char’s Gelgoog kit from 2006 as its foundation.

The model retains the original Gelgoog’s proportions and construction, replacing its red and pink molded colors with the green and dark gray armor associated with the Sleeves’ version.

Its biggest structural change comes from newly molded forearms bearing the Sleeves’ elaborate wrist decorations, setting this version apart from its One Year War predecessor.

Foil stickers highlight the raised patterns around both wrists and reproduce the white Neo Zeon insignia displayed across the chest.

Bandai has also included a Beam Machine Gun that wasn’t supplied with the original HGUC Gelgoog, matching the additional weapon carried by the mobile suit in Gundam Unicorn.

Its movable forward grip and adjustable stock allow builders to position the Beam Machine Gun for different firing poses, including a two-handed grip.

Other included equipment consists of the Gelgoog’s Beam Rifle, Beam Naginata, and large shield, offering additional options for recreating its combat appearances.

Transparent yellow effect parts recreate the Beam Naginata’s double-ended blades, and the shield can be attached to the Gelgoog’s forearm or stored across its back.

A movable mono-eye inherited from the earlier HGUC kit also allows builders to adjust the direction of the mobile suit’s gaze.

That Master Grade kit recreates the heavily armed Earth Federation mobile suit that confronts the Kshatriya during Gundam Unicorn’s opening battle, complete with additional armor, shoulder-mounted missile pods and an extensive selection of weapons.
