Square Enix Opens Orders for Huge New Chrono Trigger Merch Collection

Square Enix has revealed a new wave of Chrono Trigger merchandise, with 16 collectibles and accessories inspired by characters and artwork from the classic RPG.

The new collection ranges from plushies and display pieces to gaming and PC accessories, with pre-orders already open ahead of their release next year.

Chrono Trigger originally launched for the Super Famicom and Super Nintendo in 1995, becoming one of Square’s most celebrated RPGs through a collaboration that included Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii and Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama.

Its time-travelling story follows Crono and his companions across different periods of history as they attempt to prevent the destruction of their world, introducing a party that includes Marle, Lucca, Frog, Robo, Ayla and Magus along the way.

That cast provides much of the inspiration for the new merchandise, with Frog, Robo and the recurring Nu creatures receiving some of the most substantial additions.

The “Chrono Trigger Frog Plush,” priced at ¥4,180 (approx. $26 USD / £19 GBP), recreates the knight in his familiar green form, complete with his cape, armor and sword.

Frog is one of Chrono Trigger’s most memorable party members, beginning life as the knight Glenn before being transformed into an anthropomorphic frog by Magus and becoming closely connected with the legendary Masamune.

The “Chrono Trigger Robo Plush,” priced at ¥5,280 (approx. $33 USD / £24 GBP), turns the futuristic mechanical party member into a softer recreation that retains his bulky body, rounded head, and recognizable facial features.

Robo joins Crono after being discovered damaged in the ruined future of 2300 AD, eventually developing into one of the game’s most human characters despite his mechanical origins.

The “Chrono Trigger Nu Plush,” priced at ¥3,080 (approx. $19 USD / £14 GBP), completes the trio with one of the strange blue creatures that repeatedly appear throughout different eras of the game.

Square Enix has also created the “Chrono Trigger Build Charm Collection,” which turns the game’s pixel artwork into small bead-based displays that owners assemble themselves using an included reference design.

Seven different designs are available, with the removable charm section allowing each completed piece to be kept as a standalone display or used as an accessory.

Individual “Chrono Trigger Build Charm Collection” packs cost ¥1,980 (approx. $12 USD / £9 GBP), while a seven-pack box is priced at ¥13,860 (approx. $87 USD / £64 GBP), although neither format guarantees a complete set of all seven designs.

Three “Chrono Trigger Gaming Mouse Pad” designs are also joining the collection at ¥3,850 each (approx. $24 USD / £18 GBP), using artwork from the game across large desk mats intended for both gaming and general PC use.

The “Chrono Trigger Laptop Case,” priced at ¥5,500 (approx. $34 USD / £25 GBP), continues the artwork-focused approach and includes an exterior pocket for accessories such as a mouse, cables, and power adapter.

A “Chrono Trigger Character Sticker Set” is priced at ¥2,200 (approx. $14 USD / £10 GBP) and contains eight designs that can be used on laptops, phones, notebooks and other personal items.

The remaining releases are seven “Chrono Trigger Acrylic Stands,” with individual designs available for Crono, Marle, Lucca, Frog, Robo, Ayla and Magus.

Each acrylic stand is priced at ¥1,980 (approx. $12 USD / £9 GBP), giving the game’s complete playable party individual display pieces within the same collection.

All 16 new Chrono Trigger products are currently available to pre-order through the Square Enix e-STORE and are scheduled for release on February 3, 2027.

The new merchandise arrives alongside another major Chrono Trigger announcement, with Square Enix confirming that its 30th anniversary “CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert: Melodies Across Time” will return for three performances at Grand Cube Osaka on February 12 and 13, 2027, following its earlier Tokyo run.

Advance ticket applications for the Osaka concerts have already opened through the Square Enix e-STORE, with a separate range of concert merchandise also available to order ahead of the performances.
