Sony’s New Playerbase Project to Put Fans in PlayStation Games

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially introduced a new initiative called The Playerbase, which seeks to integrate the gaming community by scanning real fans into digital software titles.
This ambitious project begins with the racing simulator Gran Turismo 7 and is expected to eventually encompass a wide range of developers under the PlayStation Studios umbrella.

The program is currently open to participants located in various global regions including the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia.
Interested individuals can begin submitting their applications as of April 7, 2026, starting at 7:00 am PT or 10:00 am ET.
Sony plans to narrow down the pool of applicants to a group of finalists who will undergo video interviews to discuss their personal history and connection with the brand.
One lucky individual will ultimately be chosen to appear as an in-game character portrait within Gran Turismo 7 for a limited time, mirroring the style of other characters found throughout the experience.

The winner will also receive an invitation to a specialized visual arts studio located in Los Angeles for a professional scanning session and a collaborative design meeting with experts.
In addition to their digital likeness, the selected fan will help create a custom Fantasy Logo and a unique vehicle livery that will be permanently displayed in the Showcase menu.
Isabelle Tomatis, the vice president of global marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated on April 7, 2026, that the program serves as a gesture of gratitude to the player community.
This initiative represents a new way for enthusiasts to interact with the digital worlds they enjoy while allowing the studio to celebrate its most dedicated followers.
