Shozen TV Anime Debuting in 2027

The Chinese comic Shozen, created by Jiang Jia Meizi and serialized on the Bilibili Manga platform, is officially set to receive a television anime adaptation in 2027.
An official Japanese website and a dedicated account on X, formerly known as Twitter, launched on March 17, 2026, to provide fans with a teaser trailer and a promotional visual for the upcoming project.

The production will be a collaborative effort between animation studios Dangun Pictures and Cannon Code.
Itsuro Kawasaki, known for his work on Magical Girl Ore and The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, is confirmed as the director and scriptwriter for the series.
The creative team also includes character designer and chief animation director Eri Osada, as well as action director Yoshihiro Sugano, who previously worked on Solo Leveling.
The story follows Dozen, a traveling Taoist priest voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya, who encounters a young girl raised by a yokai.
Dozen names the girl Shozen, voiced by Rina Kawaguchi, and takes her on as a disciple to teach her about human emotions and love.
Additional cast members announced on March 17, 2026, include Daisuke Sakuma as Ryojin, Aoi Yuki as Kensei, and Ayumu Murase as Chiro.
The series is scheduled to air on Fuji TV within the B8station programming block, which typically features Chinese-originated content for Japanese audiences.
Director Kawasaki noted that while the original work was not initially available in an official Japanese edition, the compelling characters and unique plot structure made it an ideal candidate for an anime adaptation.
