Set your volume to ‘over 9000’ with the new Dragon Ball Z ‘Scouter’ speaker

Dragon Ball Z fans will soon be able to enjoy their favorite music or podcasts through a unique gadget shaped like one of the series most iconic devices.
BANDAI SPIRITS, a leading Japanese toy and hobby manufacturer, is set to release the “Dragon Ball Z Scouter-type Speaker”, which reimagines the iconic power-level measuring device as a functional audio speaker.
Dragon Ball Z, the immensely popular anime series that debuted in 1989, is a cornerstone of the Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama.

It gained global fame for its intense martial arts battles, escalating power levels, and memorable characters.
One of the most recognizable gadgets from the early arcs of Dragon Ball Z is the Scouter, a portable, eye-mounted device used by Saiyans and Frieza Force members to detect and measure the “fighting power” (ki) of individuals.
The Scouter became instantly iconic, particularly for its role in revealing shocking power levels. It was most notable used in a scene that resulted in Vegeta’s famous line, “It’s over 9000!,” when encountering Goku.

This new “Scouter-type Speaker” taps into that nostalgia, offering fans a functional collectible that brings a piece of the Dragon Ball Z universe into their homes.
The speaker is approximately 12cm in size and will be available in two distinct colors: green, famously worn by the Saiyan’s Bardock and Raditz, as well as some of the Frieza Force soldiers, and a red variant, worn most notably by Vegeta.

Beyond its primary function as a speaker for playing audio, the product is designed with display in mind.
It includes a transparent display stand part, allowing the Scouter to be easily placed on a surface, making it an attractive desk ornament or a quirky addition to any Dragon Ball Z collection.

Specific details regarding its audio quality or connectivity (e.g., Bluetooth, AUX) has not yet been confirmed by BANDAI SPIRITS.
The “Dragon Ball Z Scouter-type Speaker” will be released as a crane game prize within Japan, and it may eventually be sold at retail stores in other international territories.

Crane games, also known as UFO catchers or claw machines, are an ubiquitous form of arcade entertainment in Japan, offering players the chance to win various prizes, often exclusive merchandise related to popular anime, manga, and video game franchises.
It will start appearing in crane games in select amusement centers/arcades across Japan from June 24th, 2025.
The Dragon Ball franchise continues to be popular in Japan with merchandise still be produced for its various series and spin-offs.

The 40th anniversary of the series has been celebrated with miniature manga replicas, the re-release of the series soundtrack on vinyl while the Legends spin-off is due to receive action figures of it’s original Saiyan characters Shallot and Giblet.
