SEGA Officially Revives Crazy Taxi as Crazy Taxi: World Tour Confirmed for 2027 Release
More than three years after its first teaser appearance in December 2023, SEGA has officially revealed Crazy Taxi: World Tour, a new installment in the long-running arcade driving franchise.
The game is currently planned for release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through both Steam and the Microsoft Store.
This latest entry expands the series beyond its traditional city setting by taking players on a globe-spanning adventure filled with high-speed driving, unusual missions, and large cash rewards.
The story follows returning protagonist Axel as he attempts to track down a mysterious group of masked criminals responsible for stealing his treasured taxi.
His pursuit takes him across multiple international locations where he must complete dangerous assignments and overcome a variety of challenges while earning money along the way.
Players will be able to race through five distinct cities, performing dramatic drifts, launching vehicles into the air, and reaching extreme speeds as they transport passengers and tackle mission objectives.
The campaign mode is designed as a narrative-focused journey that sends Axel across diverse environments in search of the thieves who took his vehicle.
Throughout the adventure, players will encounter eccentric characters, participate in a wide range of activities, and navigate unique terrain spread across the game’s five featured urban locations.
In addition to traditional passenger pickups, the game offers numerous side activities and odd jobs that provide alternative ways to earn money and progress.
A variety of unlockable vehicles and customization features will also allow players to personalize their rides and create unique taxi builds.
SEGA states that the project retains the core spirit of the original Crazy Taxi titles while updating the formula for modern audiences.
The classic time-based gameplay returns through an Arcade Mode that challenges players to accumulate as much money as possible before the clock runs out.
Competitive and social play have also been expanded through multiple multiplayer modes that support online competition across different platforms.
These multiplayer options will allow players to test their driving abilities against friends and other competitors around the world.
No pricing information has been announced yet, but Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
