Sanrio Teams Up with NEW ERA for Exclusive Cap Collab Collection
Image by James RichardsonSanrio has officially joined forces with New Era and Japanese streetwear retailer HOMEGAME for a new collection of headwear based on three of their most popular characters.
The range puts a playful spin on New Era’s casual styling, moving between colorful raised embroidery and more decorative floral designs across a total of 12 new caps.

New Era has been producing headwear for more than a century and is particularly well known for its connection with baseball and streetwear, with styles including the 59FIFTY and more relaxed 9TWENTY becoming some of its most recognizable silhouettes.

HOMEGAME approaches the collaboration from the Japanese streetwear scene, operating stores in Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka while specializing in harder-to-find New Era releases and original HOMEGAME CUSTOM designs influenced heavily by hip-hop culture.

For this latest release, attention turns to Hello Kitty, Kuromi and My Melody, with all three receiving several variations of New Era’s adjustable 9TWENTY cap.

The largest part of the lineup is the “3D EMBROIDERY” collection, which places raised character embroidery prominently across the front and adds the HOMEGAME logo to the rear panel.

Hello Kitty appears in Black, Mint and Beige versions, offering everything from an easy everyday option to lighter colors that give the same embroidered artwork a noticeably different feel.

Kuromi follows with Black, Purple and Yellow designs, with the purple naturally complementing her familiar appearance while the yellow version provides the brightest choice in her trio.

My Melody completes the 3D EMBROIDERY selection with Black, Pink and Blue caps, including a pink version that stays especially close to the colors most closely associated with the character.

The collection then changes direction with three additional black caps that pair each Sanrio character with a different flower motif.
The “HELLO KITTY SAKURA 9TWENTY CAP BLACK” combines Hello Kitty with embroidered cherry blossoms for a design that leans into one of Japan’s most familiar seasonal motifs.

Kuromi receives the “KUROMI ROSE 9TWENTY CAP BLACK,” surrounding the character with rose details that work naturally with her slightly darker aesthetic.

My Melody rounds out the floral trio with the “MY MELODY SUNFLOWER 9TWENTY CAP BLACK,” using bright sunflower embroidery to contrast against the black cap.

All nine 3D EMBROIDERY caps are priced at ¥6,600 each (approx. $41 USD / £30 GBP), while the three FLOWERS COLLECTION designs cost ¥7,700 each (approx. $48 USD / £36 GBP).
The complete Sanrio Characters x New Era x HOMEGAME collection was released on August 28 and is now available through HOMEGAME stores and its official online shop.
