Sanrio characters get kitted up for new collab with Japan's National Soccer Team

Sanrio has announced a special collaboration with the Japan National Soccer Team that will see a number of their most popular mascots don the team’s kit for a new line of merchandise.

A “Sanrio Characters Japan National Soccer Team Ver.” POP UP SHOP will open at Tokyo Station this June, offering fans the chance to pick up exclusive merchandise.

Sanrio characters, known globally for their unique designs, frequently collaborate with various brands and themes.

A recent collaboration between Sanrio and the popular Chiikawa series has sent fans into a frenzy, with demand expected to be incredibly high for the exclusive goods that will see Sanrio characters dressed as Chiikawa and friends.

This new collection offers fans a chance to see Hello Kitty, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, and others sporting the “Samurai Blue” uniform.

Sanrio Japan National Football Team 6 — A huge range of goods will be available featuring some of Sanrio’s most popular mascots dressed in the Japan National Soccer Team’s kit

The pop-up shop will offer a range of goods featuring 11 popular Sanrio characters in their special soccer attire: Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, Kuromi, Keroppi, Bad Badtz-Maru, Tuxedosam, Hangyodon, Pochacco, and Ahiru no Pekkle.

The designs show the characters engaging in soccer related activities, such as kicking a ball or striking cheering poses, aiming to evoke a supportive mood for the Japan National Team.

The merchandise line includes a variety of items:

The pop-up shop will be located at the G-Stairs Wagon in Tokyo Character Street, Tokyo Station Ichibangai.

Opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, with the final day (June 19th) closing at 6:00 PM.

For those unable to visit in person, select items will also be available for purchase online via the “Tokyo Character Street Online Plaza” starting Friday, June 6th, 2025, at 10:00 AM JST.
