Sanrio and Chiikawa announce new supermarket-themed merch collab

Sales are set to begin for a new collaboration between the popular character franchise Chiikawa and Sanrio.

The new line is themed around a “Supermarket” concept and features adorable illustrations of the characters enjoying shopping trips together in pairs.

The pairs include Chiikawa with Cinnamoroll, Hachiware with Hello Kitty, and Usagi with Pompompurin.

Other pairs include Momonga with Kuromi, Shisa with Pochacco, and the Furuhonya/Kani with My Melody.

The design aesthetic uses vivid colors and playful motifs, such as items that look like snack packages or supermarket loyalty point cards.

A highlight of the release is the inclusion of “Kiramekko” plushies.

These feature Chiikawa characters with glittering eyes wearing costumes (kigurumi) of their Sanrio partners.

This release adds to a massive year for the Chiikawa franchise.

It was recently announced that the series will receive its first feature film, Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island, in Summer 2026.
