PaRappa the Rapper and hip-hop legends De La Soul team up for new streetwear line

The Japanese streetwear brand WIND AND SEA has announced an unexpected three-way collaboration.
The new project brings together the classic rhythm video game PaRappa the Rapper and the influential American hip-hop group De La Soul.

This marks the second time that WIND AND SEA has partnered with the PaRappa the Rapper franchise, following a previous collection released in April of this year.

PaRappa the Rapper, first released on the original PlayStation, is a foundational game in the rhythm genre, known for its unique paper-thin art style by Rodney Greenblat and its call-and-response rap gameplay.

De La Soul is a legendary hip-hop trio that rose to prominence in the late 1980s.
Their debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, is celebrated for its positive, sample-heavy sound and its rejection of the harder-edged hip-hop tropes of the era.

The new apparel collection merges the distinct visual identities of both PaRappa the Rapper and De La Soul, creating uniquely inspired streetwear pieces.
Images released on WIND AND SEA’s official social media show designs that incorporate the iconic, psychedelic floral motifs from the cover art of 3 Feet High and Rising.

These floral patterns are blended with iconography from the world of PaRappa, with the designs featuring the frog logo from PaRappa’s signature orange beanie, as well as his karate-chopping mentor, Master Onion.

This fusion creates a unique aesthetic that bridges the gap between 90s video game culture and golden-age hip-hop history.

Further details regarding the full product lineup, pricing, and a specific release date are expected to be announced soon.
