Orders open as Yu-Gi-Oh!’s Joey gets his own Nendoroid figure

The Japanese hobby manufacturer Good Smile Company has announced the start of pre-orders for a new figure of Joey from the classic anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters.

The new figure reimagines Joey in the style of the company’s “Nendoroid” line of collectible figures.

Nendoroids are known for their chibi-style proportions, featuring large heads on smaller bodies, and a high degree of customization through interchangeable parts.

Joey Wheeler, also known as Katsuya Jounouchi in Japanese, is a central character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series, serving as the loyal best friend and dueling rival to the protagonist, Yugi Muto.

His journey from a street tough to a passionate and skilled duelist is a key part of the show’s story.
The new Nendoroid figure comes with a variety of accessories to replicate his different moods and dueling stances.

It includes three different face plates: a standard determined expression, a friendly smiling expression, and a comedic, overconfident expression known as the “Perfect Jounouchi Face” or “Creepy Chin”, which is a well known exploitable meme.

Optional parts bundled with the figure include a dueling card and his signature Duel Disk, which can be attached to his arm.

A special bonus item is also being offered for customers who pre-order from specific retailers.
Those who purchase from the official Good Smile Company online shop or the KAIBA CORPORATION STORE will receive an exclusive background sheet featuring Jounouchi’s signature monster, the “Red-Eyes Black Dragon.”

The KAIBA CORPORATION STORE is a real-world merchandise outlet themed after the company run by Jounouchi’s main rival in the series, Seto Kaiba.
Nendoroid Joey/Katsuya Jounouchi figure is priced at ¥6,800 and is scheduled to be released this December.
Pre-orders can now be placed via the Good Smile Company official store.
