ONE PIECE’s faithful whale Laboon gets a huge new meter long plushie
One of ONE PIECE’s most memorable animal characters is set to be recreated as an enormous new soft toy.
Goods manufacturer K Company is set to release a “Laboon Premium Plushie”, a large-scale stuffed toy replicating the giant whale character from Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece manga and anime series.
ONE PIECE is now a globally recognized media franchise, chronicling the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates.
Such is its popularity that it has recently had collaborations with major sports teams outside of Japan, including the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team and the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team.
Laboon is a significant character introduced early in the series, known for waiting faithfully for his pirate friends at the Reverse Mountain.
His recurring presence in the story since his initial introduction has made him a recognizable figure among fans.
The “Laboon Premium Plushie” aims to accurately represent the distinctive features of the One Piece whale, who is also known as “Big Friendly”.
It includes details such as Laboon’s expressive eyes and the Straw Hat Pirates’ jolly roger painted on his head by Luffy.
Measuring approximately 100cm (about 39 inches), this sizable plushie is designed to be suitable for use as a cushion, offering a practical use, or purely as a decorative item.
The plushie comes with an understandably hefty price given its size, being priced at ¥21,780 (approx. $150.54 USD/£112.80 GBP).
Pre-orders for the Laboon Premium Plushie will run from June 6th to July 6th via the Toei Animation Official Store, with general pre-orders from other hobby goods stockists commencing on the 16th of June from 1:00 PM JST until the 18th of July.
For those who successfully place an order, delivery of the plush is currently scheduled to take place in October.
