One Piece anime’s “Elbaf Arc” officially announced for April 2026

A new era for the One Piece anime has been officially announced, with the long-awaited “Elbaf Arc” set to begin broadcasting in April 2026.
This announcement was paired with even bigger news regarding the anime’s production and future.
Toei Animation is officially changing the anime’s broadcast format to ensure a one-to-one adaptation of the original manga.

The studio confirmed that the TV anime will now broadcast a maximum of 26 episodes per year.
This move is designed to allow fans to enjoy the story at a pace of one manga chapter per anime episode, a significant change from its previous weekly schedule.
To facilitate this new production, the One Piece TV anime will enter a “recharge period,” or hiatus, from January 2026 to March 2026.

The new, high-quality “Elbaf Arc” will then premiere immediately following this break.
This change in pacing is a monumental development for the One Piece community.
For years, fans have criticized the anime’s famously slow pace, which often stretched less than a single manga chapter across an entire 20-minute episode in an effort to avoid catching up with the ongoing source material from Eiichiro Oda.

This new seasonal-style approach promises a higher-quality, better-paced adaptation, more in line with other modern, critically acclaimed anime.
The “Elbaf Arc” itself is one of the most anticipated storylines in the entire series.
Elbaf is the homeland of the giants, a location that has been teased since the “Little Garden” arc, which aired over two decades ago.

The arc is expected to delve into the history of the giants and hold major significance for the final saga of the series.
As if this news weren’t big enough, a major announcement was also made for the franchise’s other global hit.

The highly anticipated second season of the live-action One Piece series has been given an official release date.

Season 2 is scheduled to begin streaming on Tuesday, the 10th of March, 2026.

This scheduling means that fans will be treated to the launch of the live-action Season 2, which will lead directly into the premiere of the anime’s new, revamped “Elbaf Arc” just a few weeks later.
