NieR:Automata’s 2B is the next Desktop Mate DLC

A new downloadable content pack has been announced for the desktop mascot platform “Desktop Mate,” which will feature the iconic android protagonist, 2B, from the globally popular action RPG, NieR:Automata.
“Desktop Mate” is a next-generation desktop mascot application that places high-quality, 3D characters on the user’s computer desktop, where they can interact with the environment and serve as a charming digital companion.

This new DLC is a highly faithful recreation of the beloved character, YoRHa No.2 Type B, and it has been created with the full cooperation of the original game’s creative team.
The motion capture for the character’s movements was performed by Kaori Kawabuchi, who was the original motion actor for 2B in the game.

The DLC includes a variety of 2B’s signature motions, such as her leg-crossing and backwards-sitting poses, and her support unit, Pod 042, will also make an appearance.

A key feature of this new release is the inclusion of voice lines from the original game, with the ability for users to freely switch between the Japanese voice, by Yui Ishikawa, and the English voice, by Kira Buckland.

The DLC also contains a secret, hidden feature.
By triggering a certain, specific motion, 2B’s costume will change, allowing users to enjoy a second, alternate appearance for the character.
Other unique features include a special animation for the alarm function, where 2B will remove her combat visor.

This new release offers fans of the acclaimed game a new and highly authentic way to interact with its iconic protagonist.

The “Desktop Mate – NieR:Automata – YoRHa No.2 Type B” DLC is priced at ¥2,200 (approx. $15 USD/£11 GBP).
It is scheduled to be released on the Steam platform for Windows PC on Thursday, the 9th of October, 2025.
