New Visual Confirms Made In Abyss Movie Premieres October 2026
A stage event for Made in Abyss held at AnimeJapan on March 29, 2026, confirmed that the first installment of a new film series titled Mezameru Shinpi, or Awakening Mystery, will debut in Japanese theaters on October 23, 2026.
Alongside the release date announcement, production staff shared a new key visual to promote the upcoming theatrical project.
Director Masayuki Kojima returns to lead the production at animation studio Kinema Citrus, working with scriptwriter Hideyuki Kurata and character designers Kazuchika Kise and Yuka Kuroda.
The original voice cast from the television series will also reprise their roles for the new cinematic entries.
In addition to the film news, a new roguelite RPG mobile game based on the franchise was revealed on March 28, 2026, with an expected launch date of September 23, 2026.
Pre-registration for the mobile title is currently open to fans ahead of its fall release.
The Made in Abyss franchise previously aired its second season, The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, from July 6, 2022, to September 28, 2022.
The story follows the journey of Riko, Reg, and Nanachi as they descend into the dangerous depths of the Abyss to uncover the mysteries of past explorers.
