New range of region specific Hatsune Miku souvenirs to be sold across Japan

A new series of regionally exclusive “gotochi,” or local, keychains featuring the virtual singer Hatsune Miku has been announced.
“Gotochi” merchandise is a popular and long-standing part of Japanese travel culture, where keychains, snacks, and other goods featuring famous characters are sold exclusively in specific prefectures or regions, often incorporating local landmarks or famous products into their design.

This new collection of acrylic keychains reimagines Hatsune Miku with a variety of themes based on different famous locations in Japan.
The new product line is being released sequentially, with this first wave of designs being exclusive to the Eastern Japan region.

The designs in this initial collection include a version of Hatsune Miku for Yokohama, themed around the city’s famous Chinatown.
Another pair of designs for the Shonen region depicts her on the island or Enoshima and next to Kamakura’s Great Buddha Statue.
A Tokyo-themed keychain features Miku with the iconic red lantern from Asakua’s Kaminarimon gate, while two designs for Shizuoka show her with strawberries and green tea.

Other designs in the first wave include an Onsen Manju version themed around the popular steamed bun.
This new line of merchandise will only be available for purchase at souvenir shops and transport hubs such as train stations and airports within their respective regions, making them a special memento for travelers to find.

The Eastern Japan collection is just the first part of a larger, nationwide rollout, with designs for other regions of Japan planned for future release.
The full range of Eastern Japan “gotochi” keychains includes:
