New Godzilla ‘Ichiban Kuji’ figure lottery costs $160 to enter and only has two prizes

BANDAI SPIRITS has announced a special high-end addition to its popular Ichiban Kuji lottery series, featuring two of Godzilla’s most iconic enemies.
The new Ichiban Kuji lottery focuses on the kaiju King Ghidorah and Mecha-King Ghidorah from the classic 1991 tokusatsu film “Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah”.

King Ghidorah is one of Godzilla’s most iconic and powerful foes, often depicted as an extraterrestrial dragon with immense destructive capabilities.
“Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah” is a significant entry in the Godzilla film series, known for its time-traveling plot and the dramatic introduction of Mecha-King Ghidorah, a cyborg version of Godzilla’s three-headed nemesis.
The Ichiban Kuji lottery is a widely popular system in Japan where participants purchase tickets for a set price for a chance to win various prizes, which are often high-quality figures and merchandise related to popular anime, manga, and tokusatsu franchises.
This particular installment stands out due to its higher price point of 24,000 yen (approx. $162 USD / £122 GBP) per entry which is due to its unique prize structure.
Unlike typical Ichiban Kuji lotteries, this edition features only two grand prizes:
A Prize: King Ghidorah (1991)

B Prize: Mecha-King Ghidorah

This Ichiban Kuji is unusual as there will be no “Last One Prize” (awarded to the person who buys the final ticket) and no “Double Chance Campaign” (a secondary lottery using ticket stubs).
Both the King Ghidorah and Mecha-King Ghidorah figures in this special Ichiban Kuji stand at an impressive height of approximately 27 centimeters, promising substantial and detailed representations of these formidable adversaries from the Godzilla universe.
The two figures will be the first in the new ‘Magunuvics’ line from BANDAI SPIRITS, which is set to focus on creating large scale figures with exquisite attention to detail.

Adding a significant layer of prestige to these figures, BANDAI SPIRITS has announced that the production and direction of the posing, modeling, and painting for both the King Ghidorah and Mecha-King Ghidorah figures were overseen by the renowned sculptor and painter Yuji Sakai, alongside other skilled artisans.

Yuji Sakai is highly respected in the kaiju figure collecting community for his exceptional attention to detail and his ability to capture the essence of these giant monsters in three dimensions.

The figures are touted as masterpieces, with meticulous attention paid to every scale, the distinct expressions on each of King Ghidorah’s three faces, and the intricate details of Mecha-King Ghidorah’s mechanical components.
Pre-orders for the “Ichiban Kuji Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah – Super Dragon Monster King Ghidorah” will be exclusively available through the Ichiban Kuji ONLINE platform from 5:00 PM JST on May 16th until June 29th, 2025.
Winners can expect to receive their prize from late October 2025 according to the current expected shipping date.
