New exhibition lets fans see 30 years worth of Evangelion anime figures
A special exhibition has opened at the Kaiyodo Hobby Museum Shimanto in Kochi Prefecture to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Evangelion franchise.
The event, titled “Kaiyodo Evangelion Figure Exhibition III,” began on Saturday, the 19th of July, 2025.
The original television anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion, first began its broadcast in October 1995.
The figure manufacturer Kaiyodo has been creating models and figures based on the series since its debut, making the company an integral part of the franchise’s three-decade history.
Kaiyodo continues to produce Evangelion models and figures and has recently announced the addition of Unit-01 to their Revoltech Amazing Yamaguchi line.
This new exhibition showcases that long relationship through two main components.
The first is an extensive collection of dioramas that recreate famous scenes from the four-part Rebuild of Evangelion theatrical film series using Kaiyodo’s figures.
This display includes 42 dioramas from a previous exhibition in 2020, which covered the first three films: Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone, 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance, and 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo.
This new exhibition adds a series of brand-new dioramas that recreate memorable scenes from the final film, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, which had not yet been released at the time of the last event.
The second major component of the exhibition is a historical retrospective of Kaiyodo’s work with the franchise.
This section features a comprehensive display of the vast number of Evangelion-related figures that Kaiyodo has produced over the past thirty years, including large-scale and life-sized figures.

- Operating Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Last admission at 5:30 PM)
- Closed Days: Every Tuesday (If a Tuesday is a public holiday, the museum will close on the following Wednesday instead).
Admission Fee:
- General (High school age and up): 1,200 yen
- Students (Elementary and Middle school): 600 yen
- Preschool children and younger: Free
