New Anime Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord Premieres with Early Streaming

The staff of the new television anime, Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: Production Magic Turns a Nameless Village into the Strongest Fortified City, has released the first three minutes of the premiere episode.
This highly anticipated series is an adaptation of Sou Akaike’s light novel series, known in Japan as Okiraku Ryōshu no Tanoshii Ryōchi Bōei.

The series has premiered via streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Japan, before its television debut on Tokyo MX and BS11.
Viewers will also be able to catch the series on Sun TV, AT-X, and Tochigi TV channels, with Crunchyroll confirmed to stream the entire series internationally as it airs.
Studio NAZ is handling the animation production, with Tetsuya Tatamitani, who previously directed “Africa Salaryman” and “Thermae Romae Novae”, helming the project.
Yutaka Yasunaga, whose work includes episode scripts for “ERASED” and the script composition for “Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon”, is in charge of the series scripts.

The production team also features Takayuki Kuriyama as the series director and supervisor, and Shingo Nakamura, who has served as animation director on “Angolmois: Record of Mongol Invasion”, as the character designer.
The musical score is being composed by Kana Utatane, known for “Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill”, with Flying Dog overseeing music production.

The voice cast is led by Yumi Uchiyama as the protagonist Van, a child prodigy who is actually a Japanese salaryman reincarnated into an aristocratic family.
M.A.O voices Till, Van’s personal maid, and Mariya Ise plays Khamsin, a loyal ally to Van after he rescued them.

The ensemble cast includes established talents such as Yōko Hikasa as Panamera Karla Kaien, Kenyū Horiuchi as Esparda, and Makoto Furukawa as Ortho Sheet, alongside Shion Wakayama, Chikahiro Kobayashi, Wakana Kuramochi, Motoaki Satō, and Nonoka Ōbuchi.
The opening theme song, “Okirakuze~shon,” is performed by Rei Nakashima, and Nonoka Ōbuchi, who also voices Lada Priora, performs the ending theme song “Make it.”
The story follows Van, the fourth son of a powerful noble, who retains the memories of his past life.

Though initially celebrated as a genius, he is disgraced when his primary skill turns out to be “Production Magic,” a crafting ability considered useless in combat by his family.
Banished to oversee a small, underdeveloped country town, Van must rely on his past life experience, his maid, and his supposedly “worthless” magic to uplift the fortunes of the village and himself.

The source material, which began publication on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website, has been hugely successful, with the overall franchise, including the light novels and the manga adaptation by Maro Aoiro, surpassing over 2.5 million copies in circulation.
Seven Seas has licensed the manga adaptation for English release.
