New affordable The Apothecary Diaries figure features Maomao’s garden party look

System Service is set to launch its new prize figure brand, “BRILLIANT,” starting June 2025.
The inaugural release for this line will be a new figure of Maomao, from the popular TV anime series The Apothecary Diaries.
The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) is a historical mystery anime series adapted from the light novel and manga.
It follows the intelligent and observant Maomao, a young apothecary working in the imperial court’s inner palace, where she solves various mysteries and intrigues using her extensive knowledge of herbs and poisons.

The anime has gained a significant following for its compelling storytelling, detailed setting, and unique protagonist.
Prize figures, typically obtained through arcade crane games, are a popular segment of the Japanese collectibles market, offering fans a chance to win figures of characters from anime, manga, and games.

They often appear in second hand shops in Japan, and can now frequently be found in hobby goods stores internationally for around $30 to $40 USD, as many prize figure manufacturers release stock to overseas retailers 1-2 months after the initial arcade release.
The “Maomao BRILLIANT Figure” is specifically based on the outfit she wears during the garden party scenes in the The Apothecary Diaries anime.

These scenes show Maomao in more elaborate attire than her usual work clothes, providing a contrast that highlights her understated elegance within the courtly setting.
As the first entry in the “BRILLIANT” brand, this figure is expected to set the standard for System Service’s new line, focusing on detailed portrayals of popular characters.
Further entries in the new figure line have been announced, with two figures based on Lycoris Recoil set to release in September featuring Takina Inoue and Chisato Nishikigi in Halloween style outfits, however no images of these are available at present.
Fans of The Apothecary Diaries will soon have the opportunity to acquire this rendition of Maomao through crane games at amusement centers and arcades across Japan when it releases in late June.
If you’re based overseas, you will likely be able to acquire the figure via most reputable hobby goods stores later this year.
