Misawa Air Fest
The Misawa Air Fest is a major annual event that opens the gates of the Misawa Air Base to the public.
This day-long festival offers a rare opportunity to see a wide variety of Japanese and American military aircraft up close.
The main draw of the event is the thrilling aerial performances.
Highlights include high-speed fly-bys and incredible aerobatic demonstrations by various fighter jets.
The Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s famous aerobatic team, Blue Impulse, is also scheduled to perform their stunning precision flying routine.
On the ground, numerous aircraft are put on static display, allowing visitors to walk right up to them.
This includes fighter jets like the F-35A, as well as patrol aircraft and helicopters from the JASDF, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Navy.
In addition to the aircraft, there are American and Japanese food stalls, creating a unique international festival atmosphere.
