McDonald’s Reveals 12 New Pokémon 30th Anniversary Happy Meal Toys
McDonald’s Japan has revealed the next phase of its Pokémon Summer at McDonald’s campaign, with a new collection of 12 Pokémon Happy Meal toys arriving this August.
Pokémon began with the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan in 1996 before expanding into one of the world’s largest entertainment franchises, spanning video games, animation, trading cards, movies and merchandise enjoyed across multiple generations.
Created to celebrate Pokémon’s 30th anniversary, the Happy Meal collection features 30 different Pokémon drawn from across the history of the series, including Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax and every generation of first-partner Pokémon.
Each toy encourages hands-on play through simple actions such as rolling, spinning, throwing and aiming, while several of the designs can also be connected or combined with interchangeable Pokémon panels.
The first wave will also include toys featuring the starter Pokémon introduced throughout the first few generations that followed Pokémon Blue, Red and Green, continuing the anniversary theme across several eras of the games.
The Pikachu Poké Ball Roller places Pikachu inside a Poké Ball-inspired vehicle that can be pushed across a flat surface, giving younger fans a simple rolling toy based on the franchise mascot.
The Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle Disc Shooter features the three original first-partner Pokémon from Pokémon Red and Green, allowing players to launch a disc toward a chosen target.
The Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile Wobbling Ring Toss brings together the Johto region’s first-partner Pokémon in a balancing game built around carefully aiming and landing the included rings.
The second wave will also feature toys inspired by the first-partner Pokémon from Pokémon X and Y, Pokémon Sun and Moon, and the later generations that followed them.
The Eevee Poké Ball Roller offers a second version of the rolling design, replacing Pikachu with one of the series’ most popular and recognizable Pokémon.
The Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly Poké Ball Sticker Case features the Paldea region’s three first-partner Pokémon and provides a compact place for storing the included stickers.
The Snorlax Travel Name Tag turns the Sleeping Pokémon into a practical bag accessory, adding one of the collection’s most recognizable characters to backpacks or luggage.
Many of the toys include removable holographic Pokémon panels that can be transferred between compatible designs, allowing fans to exchange characters with friends or create simple competitive games.
The reverse of each panel includes the Pokémon’s name and National Pokédex number, adding a small collectible and educational element alongside the main play features.
The new Happy Meals follow several earlier parts of McDonald’s Japan’s Pokémon Summer promotion, including five character-themed burgers served in exclusive packaging decorated with Pokémon such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
The campaign has also introduced collectible 15-piece Chicken McNuggets boxes, Cheese Curry and Savory Salt Garlic dipping sauces, and the Pokémon Summer Chance Bag filled with exclusive merchandise.
The Pokémon Summer Chance Bag includes a Pop-Up Pikachu French Fry Timer, one randomly selected Color Change Cup, a matching zip pouch, and McDonald’s vouchers worth up to ¥3,910.
The Pokémon Happy Meals will be available at participating McDonald’s restaurants across Japan for approximately three weeks from August 7, 2026, although individual toys will only remain available while supplies last.
Purchases will be limited to six Pokémon Happy Meals per group and transaction between August 7 and August 9, while McDonald’s has confirmed that no promotional card will be distributed during the campaign.
