McDonald’s Japan announces new My Melody & Kuromi McFlurry

McDonald’s Japan has announced a new, limited-edition dessert that will be a collaboration with the popular Sanrio characters, My Melody and Kuromi.

The new “McFlurry My Melody & Kuromi Blueberry Yogurt Flavor” is being released to celebrate the “matching anniversaries” of the two characters.

My Melody is currently celebrating her 50th anniversary, while her friendly rival, Kuromi, is celebrating her 20th.

McDonald’s Japan are also set to release a new Happy Set, or Happy Meal, based around the iconic Sanrio duo.

The new McFlurry is designed to represent the “MeloKuro” duo, and it features a base of soft serve ice cream, which is mixed with two different, vibrantly colored blueberry sauces, a refreshing yogurt-flavored sauce, and a crunchy cocoa cookie topping.

A new television commercial, which will begin airing on the 16th of September, will feature the two characters visiting a McDonald’s to enjoy the new McFlurry together, expressing the message that “together, we’re even stronger.”

A social media campaign will also be held on the platform X.

By following the official McDonald’s Japan account and replying to the campaign post with the correct hashtag, 100 participants will be chosen by lottery to win a ¥1,000 Mac Card.

The “McFlurry My Melody & Kuromi Blueberry Yogurt Flavor” is priced at ¥320.

The new dessert is scheduled to be released at McDonald’s locations across Japan from Wednesday, the 17th of September, 2025, and will be available for a limited time until mid-October.

The social media campaign is scheduled to run from Friday, the 12th of September, until Tuesday, the 16th of September, 2025.
