Latest special color Gundam model kit is so exclusive it’s only sold in one place
GUNDAM SIDE-F, the flagship Gunpla retail and experience center located in Fukuoka, has confirmed that it will shortly stock an exclusive Gunpla model kit.
GUNDAM SIDE-F, which opened in April 2022, is located at the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Fukuoka and is a major destination for Gundam enthusiasts.
The location is situated next to a massive, life-sized statue of the RX-93ff ν Gundam, a unique variant of the mobile suit piloted by Amuro Ray in “Char’s Counterattack”.
The store offers a wide range of Gunpla kits, including many limited-edition items and accessories that are exclusive to the location.
The new and exclusive “ENTRY GRADE 1/144 ν Gundam (Axis Shock Image Color)” is a variant of the “ENTRY GRADE 1/144 ν Gundam”.
ENTRY GRADE Gunpla kits are designed for beginners and kits feature a “touch gate” runner system, which allows parts to be easily removed by hand without the need for tools like nippers, making them highly accessible to new builders and younger fans.
This particular release recreates the iconic RX-93 ν Gundam (nu Gundam), the mobile suit piloted by the protagonist Amuro Ray in the 1988 anime film “Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack”.
The unique “Axis Shock Image Color” of the model is a direct reference to one of the most famous scenes in “Gundam” history.
In the climax of “Char’s Counterattack,” the antagonist Char Aznable attempts to drop the asteroid base Axis onto Earth.
In a desperate attempt to stop it, Amuro Ray uses the ν Gundam to physically push the asteroid.
As other mobile suits from both the Earth Federation and Neo Zeon forces join in, a mysterious phenomenon known as the “Axis Shock” occurs.
This event, driven by the collective will and psycho-frame technology present in the Gundam, creates a brilliant light that pushes the asteroid away from Earth and prevents a cataclysmic impact.
The colors of this Gunpla kit are inspired by the vibrant, ethereal glow of this pivotal moment in the film.
The special-edition Gunpla kit was previously announced alongside 2 other special color Gunpla kits and will be available for purchase solely at Fukuoka’s GUNDAM SIDE-F store starting from July 26th, priced at 1,540 yen (approx. $10.65 USD / £7.76 GBP).
The release of this exclusive “Axis Shock” themed ν Gundam kit is a perfect fit for GUNDAM SIDE-F, given its close association with the mobile suit.
