Jujutsu Kaisen Officially Confirms Production Delays as Fans Set to Face Longer Wait for Series’ Next Major Release
Image by Charlotte DavisJujutsu Kaisen has confirmed that one of its upcoming releases has been delayed, with Shueisha Games pushing back the launch of Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON as development continues.
Shueisha Games explained that the additional development time is being taken so the finished title can be delivered “in a better form” to players.

RUMBLE: SURVIVATON was first revealed earlier this year as a new multiplayer take on Gege Akutami’s supernatural series, developed by poncle, the studio behind Vampire Survivors.

Rather than following the 2v2 fighting format previously used by Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash, the new game describes itself as a “survivors royale” built around battles against large numbers of Cursed Spirits while competing against other players.
Matches support up to eight players online, with each participant choosing from a roster of more than 20 Jujutsu Kaisen characters and attempting to earn enough points to reach the final stage.

Combat keeps some of the accessible structure associated with Vampire Survivors, with movement handled directly by the player while standard attacks activate automatically.
Defeating enemies provides experience that can be used to level up, at which point players can choose between improving existing attacks or adding new techniques and weapons to their build.

RUMBLE: SURVIVATON also expands that system through what Shueisha Games calls “Co-op Builds,” allowing techniques normally associated with other characters to be added to your current fighter.
That means a character’s final setup can combine abilities drawn from several members of the Jujutsu Kaisen cast rather than remaining limited to their own standard moves throughout an entire match.

Players can also trigger powerful special attacks associated with the series, including techniques based around Black Flash and Domain Expansion, which can affect nearby rivals as well as Cursed Spirits.
Another mechanic allows new rules to be added after earning enough points, creating opportunities to steal points from rivals or interfere with their progress during a match.

Once the main battle reaches its final stage, the two highest-ranked players face each other directly, with the winner of that duel taking the overall victory.
The newly released second trailer gives a much better look at how all of this works, showing attacks from playable characters alongside new pixel-art animations for several of the bosses that can appear during matches.

Eight bosses are currently highlighted, including Naoya Zenin, Kenjaku, Junpei Yoshino, Jogo, Mahito, Uraume, Eso and Toji Fushiguro.
The game’s wider character lineup already includes Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, Kinji Hakari, Choso, Kento Nanami and Satoru Gojo, with more characters still represented across the full roster.
The new game is arriving while the Jujutsu Kaisen anime continues celebrating its fifth anniversary, which has produced several new projects and collaborations throughout 2026.
Bandai recently revealed the full “Jujutsu Kaisen 5th Anniversary FINAL!” Ichiban Kuji lineup, featuring MASTERLISE figures alongside acrylic stands, posters, badges and other collectibles based on several major parts of the anime.

Animate has also celebrated the anniversary with a festival-themed collection featuring newly drawn artwork of Yuji, Megumi, Gojo, Geto, Yuta and Inumaki dressed in traditional happi coats.

Before its eventual launch, players will get their first opportunity to try RUMBLE: SURVIVATON through a public playtest at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

The test version will feature the eight-player online mode, with feedback from attendees being collected while character balance and the overall feel of the game are still being adjusted.
Anyone who takes part in the playtest, along with players who add the game to their wishlist, can receive a pixel-art sticker and fan set, while match winners at the event will receive a complete set of all ten character stickers.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 will run from September 17 through September 21, with RUMBLE: SURVIVATON appearing at the Shueisha Games booth.
Jujutsu Kaisen RUMBLE: SURVIVATON had previously been scheduled for release during 2026, but its launch has now been moved to 2027.
A more specific release date has not yet been announced, with the game planned for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
