Iconic Manga DEATH NOTE Gets Official Limited-Edition Whisky Collection

WHISKY MEW has officially announced the sale of two new limited-edition whiskies featuring labels from the hit manga series Death Note.
This release celebrates the classic psychological thriller created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, which has over 30 million copies in circulation.

The story follows Light Yagami, a genius who uses a supernatural notebook to eliminate criminals, and his intense intellectual battle with the master detective L.

These complex themes of morality and time are reflected in the two distinct bottles chosen by whisky critic Hideo Yamaoka.

Yamaoka, a world-renowned collector and former editor, selected these casks to mirror the “addictive” and “time-polished” nature of the series’ characters.
WHISKY MEW has previously released other anime collaboration whiskies based on Neon Genesis Evangelion and City Hunter.

The new DEATH NOTE lineup includes the following items:
- Death Note Label / Invergordon 1973: 20,900 yen (approx. $140.00 USD / £110.00 GBP)

This 700ml bottle contains grain whisky aged for 50 years.

Due to the long aging process, the alcohol content has dropped to 29.9%, resulting in a gentle flavor profile with notes of vanilla and pear.
- Death Note Label / Williamson 2010: 30,800 yen (approx. $205.00 USD / £160.00 GBP)

This 700ml bottle contains Islay single malt whisky aged for 14 years with an ABV of 53.2%.

It features a characteristic medicinal and smoky peat aroma while maintaining a clean finish.
The “Invergordon 1973” is limited to 178 bottles total, while the “Williamson 2010” is limited to 200 bottles.

Due to expected high demand, sales will be handled via a lottery on the official WHISKY MEW online store.
Applications will be accepted starting Monday, January 19, 2026, at 12:00 JST and will close on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Winners will be selected to purchase the bottles, with a strict limit of two bottles per person.
