Gundam Base gets striking exclusive see-through ν/Nu Gundam model kit

BANDAI SPIRITS has released a highly anticipated limited-edition Gunpla model kit, which is exclusively available at Gundam Base stores.
The “MG 1/100 ν Gundam (Nu Gundam) Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]” Gunpla kit is only available at Gundam Base stores and the GUNDAM SIDE-F store in Fukuoka.

This special variant offers a unique aesthetic by allowing builders to admire the intricate internal mechanisms of the iconic Mobile Suit through its transparent armor.

The release of this new Gunpla kit comes at a time when the ν Gundam is a popular subject for new kits.
A huge 1/60 PERFECT GRADE UNLEASHED Gunpla kit of the ν Gundam has also been revealed and made available for pre-order by BANDAI SPIRTS.

The Mobile Suit Gundam franchise is famous for its vast array of Gunpla plastic model kits which allow fans to build highly detailed replicas of the robots depicted in the series.
The “Master Grade (MG)” line, at 1/100 scale, is celebrated for its intricate internal frames, high level of detail, and sophisticated articulation.

The “Ver.Ka” (Version Katoki) designation signifies a design supervised by renowned mechanical designer Hajime Katoki, known for his sharp, realistic interpretations of Gundams and other mobile suits.
The ν Gundam, piloted by Amuro Ray in the 1988 film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, is one of the most popular and recognizable Mobile Suits in the entire franchise and is distinguished by its asymmetrical Fin Funnel accessories.

This “Mechanical Clear” edition is a transparent version of the highly acclaimed “MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka” Gunpla kit which was originally released in 2012.
Unlike some other clear Gunpla kits that might use colored translucent plastic, this release focuses on highly transparent clear parts for almost all of the exterior armor.

As its name suggests, “Mechanical Clear” emphasizes the internal structure and allows the Psycho-Frame, an advanced psychic-amplifying material within the Gundams frame, to be clearly visible through the clear armor.

This creates a visually stunning effect and highlights the engineering and design that go into these models.

The model maintains the proportions and detailing supervised by Hajime Katoki, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing and accurate representation of the ν Gundam.

The Gundam’s iconic Fin Funnels can be detached and displayed individually, including in their deployed state.

A dedicated display base molded in the shape of Amuro Ray’s personal mark is included to provide a stable and themed platform for displaying the completed kit.

The intricate markings, also produced under Katoki’s supervision, are provided as water transfer decals which offering a crisp and high-quality finish.

In line with the kits unique clear aesthetic, the packaging features a monotone color scheme which provides a striking contrast to the colorful illustrations that often feature on Gunpla boxes.

The “MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]” kit was originally released on since May 24th but has been highly in demand.

It has been reported as being out of stock at most Gundam Base locations, with limited inventory only available at a few stores.
The Gundam Base online stock checker currently shows that stock is only available at the store located in Hokkaido’s New Chitose Airport, however, this stock checker does not include any stock that may be present in smaller “satellite” stores.

BANDAI SPIRITS has clarified that this is not a limited edition product and will regularly receive additional production runs.

They are advising enthusiasts who missed the initial release to monitor official Gundam Base announcements and store restock notifications for future opportunities to purchase this unique and visually captivating Gunpla.
The MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear] model kit is currently priced at 7,700 yen (approx. $53.10 USD / £39.33 GBP) although this may be subject to change for future production runs.
