First-Ever Official Dragon Ball Fan Poll Announces Winner

The results of the first-ever worldwide character popularity poll for the Dragon Ball franchise have been officially announced, revealing which warrior stands at the summit of global fandom.

The “DRAGON BALL THE ONE” poll was launched on November 20, 2025, to commemorate the series’ 40th anniversary, inviting fans from around the world to cast their votes for their favorite characters.

Out of 212 eligible characters, the field was narrowed down through four intense “survival” stages, eventually resulting in a final ranking.

The results were unveiled on Saturday, January 24, prior to the “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri” fan event.

The event contained multiple announcements relating to the future of the Dragon Ball franchise, with perhaps the most exciting being the confirmation of the production of Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, which is set to adapt the manga’s “Galactic Patrol Prisoner” arc.

Taking the crown as the world’s number one character is the series protagonist, Son Goku.

Fan comments celebrating his victory described him as the “pinnacle of all manga protagonists” and “the best hero ever,” citing his optimistic nature and unwavering spirit as reasons for his enduring popularity.

Following closely behind in second place is the Prince of All Saiyans, Vegeta.

Voters praised his character development from a villain to a family man, with many noting that the series would not have lasted as long without his presence as a rival.

Rounding out the top three is Son Gohan, described by fans as the “strongest son” and a character who embodies both kindness and immense hidden potential.

The poll also highlighted the popularity of non-Saiyan characters, with Piccolo taking 4th place due to his unique bond with Gohan and his role as a mentor.

The list includes some surprising entries, such as “Bulma’s Black Cat” ranking at number 14, proving that even minor characters in Akira Toriyama’s world have left a lasting impression on fans.
