Dragon Quest’s Real-Life Luida’s Tavern Confirms Second Permanent Location
Image by James RichardsonDragon Quest fans visiting Osaka will soon have a permanent place to eat, drink and relax between adventures, following the success of a previously limited-time attraction in the city’s popular Namba district.
The Dragon Quest-themed “LUIDA’S BAR in OSAKA” will officially become a permanent location from August 25, 2026, continuing to operate from the fifth floor of Pasela Resorts Namba Dotonbori.

LUIDA’S BAR takes its name and inspiration from Luida’s tavern in the Dragon Quest games, where adventurers can meet other characters and organize their parties before heading out into the world.

Dragon Quest itself dates back to 1986 and has grown into one of Japan’s biggest RPG franchises, with its familiar monsters, characters and fantasy settings helping define many of the conventions associated with Japanese role-playing games.

The Osaka attraction brings the tavern concept into the real world through a themed restaurant created as a collaboration between Dragon Quest and Pasela Resorts, offering an experience designed around the atmosphere and imagery of the long-running Square Enix franchise.

The location had originally been operating as a limited-time pop-up, but its popularity and requests from visitors for LUIDA’S BAR to remain in Osaka have resulted in the venue being converted into a permanent establishment at the same Dotonbori location.

The change also opens the door for the Osaka branch to develop its own identity, with exclusive food and drink items unavailable at other LUIDA’S BAR locations already planned for the future.

Weekday visits will generally operate on a walk-in basis between 11:30 AM and 9:00 PM, although stays may be limited to a maximum of two hours when the restaurant becomes busy.

Weekends and Japanese public holidays will instead use five 90-minute sessions beginning at 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM, with the restaurant resetting between each group of guests.

The weekend and holiday schedule will temporarily apply every day through August 31, including weekdays immediately following the permanent location’s opening.

LUIDA’S BAR in OSAKA will officially reopen as a permanent Dragon Quest attraction on August 25, 2026 at Pasela Resorts Namba Dotonbori, located at 1-4-27 Dotonbori, Chuo-ku, Osaka.

Reservations opened on August 13 via the official website and can be made up to 30 days before a visit.

While advance booking is recommended, the restaurant is not exclusively limited to customers with reservations and on the day walk-ins may be possible subject to availability.
