Casio To Release Gundam G-SHOCK Collab Watch Inspired by the RX-78-2

Mobile Suit Gundam is landing another major crossover this summer through a brand-new collaboration with timepiece manufacturer Casio.
A special edition collaboration watch has been unveiled, which draws direct design inspiration from the legendary RX-78-2 Gundam.

First debuting on Japanese television in 1979, the original anime series completely revolutionized the mecha genre by treating giant robots as realistic military weapons rather than simple superheroes.

The franchise has since built a massive global legacy spanning animation, video games, and the incredibly popular Gunpla model building hobby.
This collaborative watch model utilizes the classic square-shaped DW-5600UE as its design canvas, offering a perfect balance between nostalgic appeal and rugged daily durability.

To capture the spirit of the Earth Federation’s most famous mobile suit, the timepiece sports a transparent clear bezel and matching band.
A distinctive blue digital display sits at the center, working alongside subtle orange accent parts placed throughout the face to recreate the classic tricolor aesthetic of Amuro Ray’s signature mecha without looking overly flashy.

Longtime Universal Century fans will find several details hidden throughout the watch’s design.
The back plate features White Base’s Pegasus logo while the strap has Earth Federation Space Force (EFSF) branding paired with intricate, mechanical-style engravings that make the piece feel like authentic military equipment straight out of the historic One Year War.

As with previous high-profile anime watch releases, this limited crossover is expected to see huge demand from both streetwear collectors and mecha fans alike.
The unique color palette and military-mecha aesthetic mean that it will likely become a highly sought-after collector’s item that could be targeted by online resellers shortly after launch.

The watch is set to be released on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and is currently scheduled to debut as a South Korea exclusive, with pricing information yet to be confirmed.
For those hoping for a wider international release, it remains to be seen whether this particular Gundam x G-SHOCK watch will be given a broader rollout.

Until any information is confirmed by Casio, fans will need to rely on second-hand markets or proxy services within Korea that can offer international shipping to get their hands on the exclusive timepiece.
